Dear colleagues and friends,
It gives us truly a great pleasure to invite you to the Danube Symposium 2005. For the ninth time in its history the Danube Symposium of Pediatric Surgery will be organized in a new fashion. In a fruitful cooperation between the Austrian Society of Pre- and Perinatal Medicine and the Austrian Society of Pediatric Surgery we are inviting colleagues from different medical specialties dealing with malformations to exchange their ideas, their experiences, their techniques, their scientific work and their results. This meeting should act as a paradigm of interdisciplinary cooperation, international cooperation and as an origin of new contacts as well as an origin of new friendships. Our main topic "Pre- and Postnatal Management of Malformations" will offer insights into important aspects presented by some of Europe's most experienced colleagues. The Symposium will be located in the new Danube Hospital including one of the main perinatal centers in Vienna. But also the historical and political position of the City of Vienna makes it a most appropriate venue for our Conference. We sincerely hope that Vienna's central geographic location and its well-known attractions, together with an interesting scientific program will encourage a large number of colleagues of the same interest to participate in this meeting. We hope you will take this opportunity to spend two stimulating days of exchange with us in our beautiful city. We look forward to welcoming you to what should be a lively and interesting meeting in Vienna.
